Biography

Loïs Coeurdeuil, born in 1977, began playing the guitar with a certain tenacity at the age of 16. He continued his apprenticeship by joining the IMFP in Salon-de-Provence then le CIAM in Bordeaux. His discovery of the music of Django Reinhardt marks the direction of the artist and his passion for this style.

His meetings with many musicians enrich his already very mastered playing: Moreno Winterstein transmits his knowledge to him and it is with Angelo Debarre that he refines his phrasing and his identity.

Influenced by guitarists such as Biréli Lagrène, Georges Benson, Wes Montgomery, he developed his musical universe.

In 1999, he created the group “César Swing”. His meeting and three-year collaboration with Chico from the Gipsy Kings will  lead him to many successes across France.

He perfected his style and naturally established himself as an accomplished solo guitarist of the new generation of gypsy jazz.

He shares the stage with the biggest names in Jazz and du Jazz manouche : Stochelo Rosenberg, Florin Niculescu, Sylvain Luc, Angelo Debarre... at numerous festivals in French and international jazz.

In 2007, he recorded the album "Impromptu", featuring a repertoire of Django standards from the 1950-52 period and original compositions by the group with saxophonist Jérôme Leroy.

In the album "Clockwise", recorded in 2010, he offers a more current formula as well as Django titles rarely taken up in quartet, compositions and themes by Georges Benson.

2012 will be the year of the creation of the new project " When Django meets Sinatra " in trio with singer guitarist Sébastien Torregrosa. They will do more than 200 concerts.

In 2013, he met the gypsy singer Sonia Winterstein, and from their musical complicity was born the project " Sonia Winterstein and Loïs Cœurdeuil Quartet_cc781905-5cde-3b5183-bad" whose arrangements he writes.

He is solicited by harpist Christine Lutz, recognized as being one of the 10 best jazz harpists in the world, and integrates the "_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136_bad5cf58d_Christine Lutz Quartet » with Olivier Lalauze on bass and Thierry Lutz on drums.

The year 2014 will mark a turning point in the career of the musician. He realizes his desire  for years to play in a Big Band: he calls on Romain Thivolle (arranger, conductor and guitarist at the head of an exceptional Big Band) and lui propose_cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_the rewriting of the works of Django Reinhardt for Big Band. He puts down his acoustic guitar,  gets up to kiss his archtop " gibson L5 " and imposes himself as the soloist of the "project leader"  Django Revisited Big Band ”.

In 2015, he reunited with Thomas Krestzschmar on the violin  and updated the new " Cesar Swing Quartet_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136_badci"5cf58 on the Régo rhythm guitar Favreau on double bass.

En juin 2016, il concrétise son projet « Django Revisited Big Band » par la sortie de l "LIVE" album.

Two albums are already in preparation...
